"Understanding the Inner Child"

Hello and welcome to this page!

Let me share a story with you:

"So you felt like you just wanted to join the children playing, to be one of  them?  Has that ever happened before?"  I gentle asked.

"Well, yes, but mostly people have just told me to "...grow up and stop acting like a child.  Be my age, not my shoe size!"  I've tried to stop the memories, but I get overwhelmed sometimes.  Nothing dulls the pain and the voices now, not alcohol or parties ... or even cutting myself.  I knowallies-pic.jpg because I have tried.   That's why I am here today.

"I don't really want to talk about my childhood because I think it was just 'the usual problems'", she continued.  "My dad was strict but better than my friend, Sam, who used to belt him up every week.  Sure he punished us kids when we did wrong but ... it was the normal things dad's do...wasn't it?  We got the belt once or twice."

"....then, ya, there was the time my mum pushed my sister into a hot stove for lying to her ... but there wasn't any broken bones or anything like my friend's parents so ...."

The more Allie shared about her parents, the more she began to see the withdrawal of their love as the main punishment she received.  As she continued, she also could see the hurt and rejection in her childhood even more.

Her only way to protect herself was to be really, really good.  She had to always swallow her feelings.  Yet, sometimes that wasn't any protection at all.  Tears began and soon she was sobbing like that little girl she had so often felt.

Over the few weeks, Allie thought and shared alot about her early years.  As she learned ways to face and deal with her emotions, of empathy for this little one - not anger - she began to release and to heal that lost, little child inside.

For many people, living with the reminder of painful childhood traumas can mean putting on masks, building walls so others don’t get too close or a variety of other coping methods.

However the emotion, mental and physical costs to continue to live their life this way can also be very costly.  Even the terrors of any teen years and/or adult experiences leave the ‘footprints’ on our subconscious and unconscious, that hidden iceberg.

In this eBook, we will cover:

checkkbluesm.jpg  A.  So what is the Inner child - As we will continue our look at the inner network and how this happened in life, a definition of the term “Inner Child” and how the self-system aims to protect a child from the traumatic events of life.

We follow the process and explain how the hidden parts of our complex being - the unconscious and the subconscious parts - combine to form between 80 to 90% of what happens in our thinking processes.  We go on to discuss how the Inner child starts and how we can best reach and help the little one/s inside.

checkkbluesm.jpg  B.  Common Inner Child Personalities - As most people explore the concept or the Inner Child and begin to see their own inner network, several ‘common’, typical personalities can emerge: the abandoned and neglected ones, along with the playful, spoiled or fearful child.  How do you encourage yet ‘integrate’ these parts into your own personality?

checkkbluesm.jpg  C.  Different groups of the Inner Voices – There are three main sub-sets within the inner child network: Those within the ‘Parent’ control, the ‘Inner Child’ voices and mediator ‘Adult’.  How do these interact and how can we help the inner child?

checkkbluesm.jpg  D.  Allow Creator God to help! By allowing Creator God to help, we learn how to use self-care and affirmation to begin to ‘re-parent’ and bring hope.  In going through this learning experience, it is essential to learn how to find safe people to help in the process.

checkkbluesm.jpg  E.  Conclusions and Comments Many people live with masks and walls around them because of the hurt and trauma of their childhood.  Allowing this inner growth can release a new health and wholeness for those who are willing to walk the journey.

checkkbluesm.jpg  Then we have included three special worksheets for your evaluation:

#1. DO I HAVE A FRACTURED SENSE OF SELF?

#2. Check list for TRAUMA LEVELS
